to provide education, inspiration and opportunities for health, in mind, body and spirit

Y Touring is probably the most unusual and unexpected of our family of operations, because people generally think of gyms and hostels when they think of a YMCA (in fact we don’t do accommodation! If that is what you want go to www.ymca.org.uk).

"Connected was a total vindication of TIE’s social relevance and educational power."
Michael Billington, The Guardian

The value of live theatre is immeasurable. Y Touring Theatre Company offers self-growth and education to all of its audiences. Theatre of Debate programmes for students are focused on encouraging debate around often complex issues and workshops build self-confidence through theatre games and performance. Workshops for educators and professionals offer new and interesting ways in how to approach traditional academic subjects, such as Health, Science and Social Issues. The company also encourages new thinking in how to relate to students and how to optimise the learning time in the classroom.

"The Gift conveys, complex information and focuses the arguments with remarkable clarity, but also possesses
the dramatic clout to make you care about the characters and so make the issue live, something of a model of the genre"
Mick Martin Times Educational Supplement

Y Touring’s work explores and questions the ever evolving world in which we exist, and question what is the healthy mind, body and spirit for different people from different parts of the world from different walks of life.

Moreover, Y Touring Theatre Company create new pieces in response to the fast-paced times of the 21st century - performances are always a new experience for audiences.

“The final scene of Memory Box moved me to tears, as I suspect it did quite a few members of the young audience.
Let us not forget the vital part which drama can play in the national Curriculum.”
Sue Elkin, The Times

A Brief History

Y Touring was started in 1990, and grew out of a project called the Inner Circle, which was a pioneering HIV/Aids education programme for young people 1990. The company has since developed to become a fully fledged professional theatre company and has performed to around 2 million people, throughout the UK and abroad, in over 30 productions.
