Volunteering Opportunities

There are lots of opportunities to contribute to the success of our charity by becoming a volunteer.

Formal training and qualifications are part of the charity’s volunteer programme, so if you are seeking rewarding work experience, with the opportunity to develop valuable skills, we may be able to help you.

As a Volunteer at the Central YMCA Club, you join a team over 200 individuals giving their time to help run what is central London’s largest health and fitness facility.

There are also opportunities to support One KX, our arts and health community centre in King’s Cross London.

Fundraising Manager

With an annual turnover of £10 million, our operations cross local, regional and national borders to help a hugely diverse range of people develop and succeed in health and fitness, the arts and community learning.

Following a period of change and the implementation of a dynamic new senior management structure, we are now embarking on the next phase of our strategic plan with a new Development Directorate to drive and support creative growth across the Charity. Our new Fundraising Manager will be a key member of this new Directorate.

As Fundraising Manager you will take the lead on developing and implementing an ambitious statutory and trusts fundraising strategy, developing lasting relationships with a range of funders and opportunities to generate income from local, regional, national and European sources.

We are looking for someone with a proven track record to develop imaginative, mission-critical project proposals to attract funding from a range of statutory bodies, trusts and foundations. You must have a proven track record in maximising income generation from a range of funders; excellent communication, IT and interpersonal skills; experience in managing budgets and presenting financial information; outstanding knowledge of the public and third sectors and understanding of partnership working.

General Manager One KX and Y Touring

Permanent Full Time (40 hours over 7 days)
London – King’s Cross
£34,749 per annum

One KX is a Centre of Excellence for young people to connect, collaborate and create through the Arts, Science and Technology. It is also home to Central YMCA’s touring theatre company YTouring. The General Manager plays a pivotal role in the administration and smooth running of these exciting ventures at the heart of the King’s Cross community.
You will support the practical realisation of the Creative Director’s vision for both One KX and YTouring, acting as his deputy and contributing to the design and implementation of a strategic plan. You must be an outstanding project manager with the ability to lead and motivate a recently formed staff team while delivering high-profile creative projects including the Theatre of Debate: A Five Year Conversation, funded through a £1 million grant from the Wellcome Trust.
We are looking for a pro-active individual who can identify commercial opportunities, and negotiate and maintain relationships with external partners, while overseeing the effective administration and development of the operation..
You will have significant experience of project management in the arts along with excellent people management and organisational skills. As budgeting and commercial awareness will be key requirements of this position, you will also need proven financial management ability and knowledge of business planning processes, preferably in an arts- related context. As an advocate for OneKX, YTouring and Central YMCA, you will also have outstanding negotiating, influencing and communication skills to build and sustain positive, long-term partnerships with the community as well as local and national institutions.
An interest in working with young people, the arts and digital media is essential to be considered for this role.
